The Barolo Riserva is produced only in exceptional vintages. For this Barolo we select grapes grown on some specific zones of our estate vineyards, which can produce a wine with big ageing potential, rich and powerful. After three years of ageing in wood the wine is refined in bottles for no less than additional two years.
Vigna La Rosa
Barolo Vigna La Rosa is made only in absolutely excellent years. This five-hectare vineyard, exposed completely to the south and cultivated entirely with Nebbiolo, gives us just 20,000 bottles. Barolo La Rosa ages in Allier oak barriques for the first year, spending the second in medium-sized barrels. This procedure, which fully enhances the characteristics of the terroir of the vineyard where the grapes originate, conveys an undeniably floral character to the wine, along with very fine and graceful tannins and a well sustained acidity.
Proprietà in Fontanafredda
Fontanafredda is a Cru encompassed entirely within the estate of the same name in Serralunga d’Alba. It sits soils composed of marly clays and layers of clayey sand. Barolo Fontanafredda ages exclusively in medium-sized and large barrels for two years, spending a further 12 months in the bottle. The result is a wine with aromas reminiscent of red berry fruits and violets, and with tight yet silky smooth tannins.
